Bio

Mel is a self-confessed collector and hoarder of washed up and found ‘treasure’.   Working predominantly with driftwood and other items picked up along the shores of the East coast, she creates unique sculptures and pictures.

Mel describes her process as ‘faffing’, hence the name The Faffory of Whitby.

When asked how she is inspired she says, “I don’t have a plan. The sea-tumbled shapes start the process of what they’ll become.”
